Multiple 500 TEU Container Ships (built between 1995-98)
This project involved a total of seven series ships that were over 25 years old and required refurbishment to extend their service life by another 10 years. The project focused on all the steel pipelines in the ships that run through the four fuel tanks between the cargo holds:
- All pipelines from the pump room to the bilge wells in the cargo holds: 7 pipes, DN100, totalling 125 m.
- Main bilge suction line from the pump room to the engine room: DN125, approximately 35 m.
- Fuel tank ventilation lines: 5 pipes, DN125, total approximately 40 m.
- Four sounding pipes to the bilge wells: 4 pipes, DN32, totalling approximately 40 m.
The maximum limit is not determined by the length of the pipelines but by the number of bends.
- It is limited to 6 bends (minimum 4 bends) – lengths of over 50 m are possible without bends.
- Flushing the pipelines by the crew facilitates the execution of the work.
- The work needs to be primarily carried out from the pump room.
- Therefore, all valves of the bilge pipelines should be removed.
- The valve of the main line in the engine room must be removed.
Currently, tests are conducted in our laboratories for the sounding pipes DN32 + DN40.
