Megajob onboard a Mega Yacht
Background and Scope of Work
The entire job has been initiated by the owner’s representative and Hanseatic Horizon (HHH) to avoid extensive pipe renewals and necessary by-works – apart from the minimised pipe work possible to be done from the open deck.
Treatment of all Scupper Pipes
Within ten continues working days a four-man team of specialists inspected the entire scupper line system of the PAA from deck 07 to deck 03 – with outlets underneath the water line – and treated all horizontal lines for extended future use with very good results. Furthermore, the chilled water (CW) lines on deck 05 aft have been applied with HANSELINER repair technology.
The biggest challenge has been the coordination between the yard and the team in view of the tremendous welding and grinding work especially on deck 03 + 04 accommodating all bigger size scuppers DN80 + 100. Even since the first inspection in May the cumulated number of rusty debris and welding cinder compressed to blocks bigger than fists and leading to necessary removal and refit of several pipes underneath deck 04 by the yard.
From the inspection in May it has been decided to inspect all scupper lines and treat the affected horizontal pipes with epoxy resin avoiding any rusting in the future.
